IT’S TIME TO THINK AHEAD
Colorado should be bullish on the future. That starts with creating an environment in this state where people and businesses thrive, where innovation can flourish and where we have our eyes turned toward what’s ahead. In the past two years, Colorado has lost several large Colorado-based companies: including FirstData, ProLogis, Frontier Airlines, and Molson-Coors Brewing Co. Recently, CenturyTel announced its intention to purchase Qwest Communications and move the corporate headquarters out of state.
Companies that reject Colorado leave behind a vacuum in the local technology industry – a bright spot in the faltering national economy. But as the old proverb states: “For every loss there is opportunity.” That is why we need to Think Ahead Colorado.
Right now there is an opportunity to encourage investment in Colorado’s future by updating old rules on your telephone to reflect communications technology and how we connect to each other today. Robust high-speed Internet networks – especially wireless networks - are essential to Coloradans in business, at school and at home. Think Ahead Colorado believes that we should act now to position Colorado for growth and building for the future. From the generation of kids who have never known a landline, to the smallest mom-and-pop retailers and state’s largest companies, investment in 21st century technology is needed to connect Colorado to the future. Without such investment, Colorado will fall even further behind.
Broadband and wireless are critical to Colorado consumers and businesses. Both the State of Colorado and local municipalities have the authority to approve policies that encourage this investment.
Join Think Ahead Colorado and help us encourage our policymakers to show the rest of the US Colorado is open for business.
